Christmas Hike 2015 – White Peak Walk

Like a fool, I agreed to go along on the Christmas hike this year, and to my horror the route was the White Peak walk!

26 miles up hill and down dale… From Bakewell via Rowsley, Monyash and Monsal Head.  I made it as far as the Waterloo Hotel in Taddington at 20 miles, when my hamstrings and achilles tendons told me to quit.

The morning was stunning watching the sun rise over the mist in the valleys… The joy was relatively short lived as we entered the fog after lunchtime and the legs began to fail.

You can check the route out on the White Peak walk website linked above.

Just a note about my gear… It all worked amazingly!

Boots – BERGHAUS Expeditor AQ Trek Boot – Great grip, super comfy, and remained waterproof despite being wet for getting on for ten hours

Trousers – RAB Offwidth walking/climbing trousers. – So comfy, no chafing!

LEKI walking poles – Never walked with a pole before, but these were incredible. Powered me along when my legs had gone!

Here are some photos from the enjoyable part of the day!
